The majestic eight-horse hitch will once again be harnessed and hitched to the iconic red beer wagon, offering attendees an unforgettable experience at this year’s event. The Budweiser Clydesdales' awe-inspiring presence and graceful movements will undoubtedly add a unique touch to the world-class equestrian competitions that have made Live Oak International a “can’t miss” event in Ocala, Florida.

A Tradition of Majestic Power and Beauty

The Budweiser Clydesdales are famous for their impressive stature and elegance, representing the perfect blend of strength, grace, and tradition. These gentle giants are among the most recognized horses in the world, known for their role in the iconic Budweiser beer commercials. Their presence at Live Oak International marks a special occasion, as it will provide attendees with a rare opportunity to witness these magnificent animals in action at an esteemed equestrian event.

"We’re thrilled to have the Budweiser Clydesdales back at Live Oak International this year," said Chloe D. Reid, Co-President of Live Oak International. "These horses are truly majestic, and seeing the Budweiser hitch in action is something that everyone should come out to see. It’s a spectacular experience like no other and a real treat for our guests."

The Clydesdales' Unique Characteristics and Care

The Clydesdales are not only known for their striking beauty, but also their impressive history and unique characteristics. Brought to the United States in the mid-1800s by Canadians of Scottish descent, these horses have long been associated with the values of strength, hard work, and tradition. Standing at 18 hands (approximately 6 feet) tall at the shoulder, with an average weight of 2,000 pounds, Clydesdales are truly giants in the horse world. Their bay coat, four white legs, a blaze of white on the face, and a black mane and tail are distinct features that make them instantly recognizable.

But there’s much more to these horses than their appearance. The Clydesdales are known for their gentle temperament, which is essential for the many public appearances they make throughout the year. Each horse must pass a rigorous selection process to become part of the Budweiser Clydesdale hitch. The requirements include being at least four years old and meeting the strict height and weight standards. These horses are trained not only to perform but to handle the crowds and attention they receive at every stop. Their training goes beyond just physical preparation; the Clydesdales are accustomed to interacting with large crowds, making them ideal ambassadors for Budweiser. Their calm nature and ability to perform under pressure are key factors that make them so beloved by fans of all ages.

Additionally, caring for these massive animals is no small task. The horses have significant daily nutritional needs, consuming up to 1 to 6 pounds of feed, 50 to 60 pounds of hay, and 30 gallons of water per day. Their dietary regimen is carefully managed to ensure they stay in peak condition, ready for their performances and public appearances.

The History and Legacy of the Clydesdales

The Budweiser Clydesdales’ history is as rich and impressive as the horses themselves. Their journey began in 1933, when August A. Busch, Sr., and Adolphus Busch of Anheuser-Busch decided to use a team of Clydesdales to deliver a case of Budweiser to the White House as a symbol of the company's return to normal operations following Prohibition. This iconic moment marked the beginning of a legacy that would see these horses become synonymous with American craftsmanship and tradition.

Today, the Budweiser Clydesdales travel across the country, participating in hundreds of events annually. From parades to special celebrations and, of course, live events like Live Oak International, these horses bring their unique brand of elegance and strength to audiences far and wide. Their performances are not just demonstrations of raw power but also a celebration of the long-standing tradition of the Budweiser brand.
