This week, the Live Oak International horse competition kicks off its silver anniversary edition of world-class combined driving and show jumping.

After months of planning and 25 years of history, the event begins on Thursday at 8 a.m. with the combined driving dressage competition. The drivers will compete in all their finery completing a series of patterns and gaits meant to showcase the connection between horse and driver.

On Friday, dressage continues and the first jumping competitions are set. The $10,000 Waldron Private Wealth 1.40m Power and Speed is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the $35,000 Sovaro CSI3* Longines World Ranking Competition is at 3 p.m.

Saturday features the crowd-favorite marathon portion of combined driving. The horses and carriages are driven through a series of fences and through water all while trying to post the best time through the seven obstacles. As for show jumping, the $35,000 Live Oak International CSI3* Longines World Ranking Competition is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Sunday kicks off with the NAMI 5K run at 7:30 a.m., followed at 8:30 a.m. by the final of the three combined driving events. The drivers navigate their horses and carriages through an obstacles course in the arena. The drivers with the best scores overall in the three events wins their division.

The event closes with the $100,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Qualifier at 1:30 p.m. The event serves as an Olympic qualifier and is the final event in the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping North American League. The outcome could determine who gets to travel to the World Cup™ Final in Gothenburg, Sweden on March 23-26.

The event also will feature appearances by the Budweiser Clydesdales on Saturday and Sunday. Vendors, food and drinks will be available throughout.
