Ocala, Fla. (March 6, 2022) –Live Oak International was home to an exciting and talented field where Bertram Allen went last and fast to take the victory in the $216,200 CSI4* Longines FEI Jumping World Cupin an exhilarating jump off with a winning time of 37.67 seconds.

Of the 30 starters, 12 went clear to challenge for the top spot over the course designed by Olaf Petersen Jr. The jump-off was action packed and kept the crowd-packed stands and VIP tent on the edge of their seats.

“I’d watched the first few go in the jump-off, and I’d watched as far as Andre, and he was fast. I was following the jump off from the warmup ring, and I saw Daniel was very fast and was one second faster than Andre, I was a bit confused as to where he could have saved that second. My horse is naturally very fast and I just knew it was going to be hard to beat Daniel. I didn’t even know if it was going to be possible, so I just set off from the start and tried to have the best round I could. It was great to come out on top,” said Bertram Allen.

Leading until the final rider, taking second place today was defending champion, Daniel Coyle. Daniel was aboard the 12-year-old mare, Legacy and completed the jump off with a time of 38.03 seconds.

“I knew last night when I saw the start list and I saw Bertram was last to go, I knew he was looking for blood, for me beating him yesterday. So, if it was a jump off situation, it was either going to be all or nothing. You can’t make a mistake in these jump offs, and even sometimes you have the best round you can have, and you don’t have enough. Today I don’t think I could do much more,” said Daniel Coyle.

Andre Thieme put in a solid effort aboard DSP Chakaria finishing third with a jump-off time of 39.01 seconds.

“I was happy with my first round. When I went into the jump off, mostly I am too conservative. I already thought I was quick the first day at Live Oak International, and I was sixth. Yesterday I thought I was quick, and I ended up third, always those two guys (Bertram Allen, and Daniel Coyle) in front of me. Today I tried. I cannot be mad. The horse jumped great and so I’m happy with third, it was impossible to be quicker than them, so I’m happy,” said Andre Thieme.

The course was exciting to watch with some of Live Oak International’s famous jumps strategically placed on the grass field of perfection.

“I think we presented horse sport in the best possible way. The footing from my point of view is amazing. We have some special jumps; I like the black fence very much. I have to say it worked out well, we had 12 clear rounds and a very nice jump off. A fast jump off, I just like this free forward moving, long gallops, you can see those are the fastest riders of the world.  I saw two days ago the riders and the horses they had planned to compete with, and it was a very good level of sport,” said course designer, Olaf Petersen Jr.

In addition to Sunday’s competition results, there were four jumping specialty awards presented.

Presented first was the $5,000 Epic Insurance Group Leading U25 Rider Award and Hunter Holloway, age 25, who accumulated the highest number of points over the three days of show jumping competition was the recipient.

The CannaHorse Leading Owner Award was presented to Ariel Grange from the consistent rides by Daniel Coyle and Hyde Moffat.

The $10,000 Netjets Inc. Leading Rider Award went to Daniel Coyle for posting consistent results throughout the competition.

For the first time ever, Live Oak International offered competitors a CSI1* division. The Classic Champions Young Horse Award of Distinction went to Adrienne Sternlicht.
